Overview

The new BTEC National Level 3 Extended Certificate in Information Technology uses a combination of assessment styles to give you confidence to  apply your knowledge

to succeed in the workplace – and have the study skills to continue learning

throughout your career. The range of vocational assessments – both practical and written – mean you can showcase your learning and achievements to best effect when you take your next step, whether that’s supporting applications to higher education courses or potential employers. The first year of the course is structured so that the two units you complete will, if complete, secure the BTEC level 3 Certificate in IT.

Y12 (Lower 6th) course components:

  1. 1.     Creating systems to manage information (Assignment set and marked by Pearson)
  2. 2.     Living Using social Media in Business (Internally marked assignment)

Y13 (Upper 6th) course components:

  1. 3.     Information Technology Systems Ext. (Externally set written exam)

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 4-9 including English, Maths and a grade B in GCSE ICT.
