Overview
Investigate the nature of crime. Its causes. Its consequences. And join the search for solutions.
We pioneered the teaching of criminology more than 30 years ago. In that time, weve formed close links with the police and other criminal justice agencies.
That means that our degrees stay up-to-date, practical and relevant. It also means you'll get amazing placement opportunities and field trips to courts, police stations and prisons.
Our staff are experts in their own relevant areas from modern-day slavery to knife crime; from domestic violence to cyber terrorism. They bring their specialist knowledge into the lecture theatre and help you define and develop your own areas of interest.

You could go on semester-long placement with Humberside Police on this course. Youd work with different areas of the force, including CSI, the Special Branch Ports Unit, community policing, cyber crime and the custody suite.
Youd visit active crime scenes, observe suspect and victim interviews and collect evidence. There are only 10 places available, so its competitive but the knowledge and skills youd gain are genuinely career enhancing.
