Covering animal care and employability skills, this course is the perfect introduction to animal management. Throughout the course you will take part in a number of theoretical and practical sessions. Those opting to take this course will develop their practical skills by participating in hands-on activities at external locations on a regular basis.
Units you may study include:
Learning skills from your work placement
Health and Safety in the animal care workplace
Cleaning and maintaining animal accommodation
Carrying out an Animal Care Project
Moving, handling, catching and restraining small animals
How will it be delivered?
100% Assessment - portfolio of evidence
Ideally at least 4 GCSEs or an Entry Level 3 qualification, but this is subject to discussion at your interview. If you haven't already achieved a GCSE grade 5 or grade C in English or Maths, then you will study either GCSE or Functional Skills English or Maths alongside your other qualifications.
Your next steps...
After completing your course you could progress on to study a Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care. Alternatively, you could progress straight into employment including apprenticeships. Studying animal management could lead to a career working in, for example, kennels and catteries, pet shops, grooming parlours, animal breeding establishments,animal sanctuaries, veterinary surgeries and stables.
