Overview

This Level 2 Technical Certificate is aimed at you if you are looking to work in the construction industry specifically as a crafts person in plastering. A plasterer has the skills and knowledge to use a range of materials to apply finishes to walls, ceilings and floors both externally and internally. They may also produce and fix fibrous moulds, therefore they play an important part in any construction team. You will gain an understanding of the skills and knowledge that are important when you are working as a plasterer or progressing to further training in this area. Employer involvement is mandatory on this course and the College will help secure you a placement.

Units you may study include: Principles of construction Applying external plain rendering Internal plastering and fixing sheet materials Floor screed systems Direct bond, tape and joint Producing, fixing and finishing plain plaster moulding to match existing Installing linings and encasement systems Installing metal furring ceiling systems Installing metal stud partitioning systems Health and Safety in construction Employability skills

60% Assessment - synoptic assignment 40% Assessment - Exam

Entry requirements

Ideally at least 4 GCSEs at grade 9-4 or grade A*-D or a Level 1 qualification, but this is subject to discussion at your interview. If you haven't already achieved a GCSE grade 5 or grade C in English or Maths, then you will study either GCSE or Functional Skills English or Maths alongside your other qualifications.
