T Levels are equivalent to three A levels and are 2 year qualifications bringing classroom learning and work placements together. You will spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% on a 45 day placement with an employer giving you additional knowledge and skills.
If you are interested in this level 3 T Level but you don't have the entry requirements there is the option of a Level 2 transition course that will include substantial work experience and a project set by the employer as well as aspects of childcare and education and also math's and English. If this is you then apply for this level 3 course and you can discuss the level 2 at interview.

The T Level in Education and Childcare will give you an overview of childcare and education from birth to 19 years. It will include Child Development, Safeguarding, Behaviour, Special Educational Needs and will look at Parents, Families and Carers and the concept of working with others.
A substantial industry placement with a childcare employer will give you a wider understanding of work in this area. You will develop transferable technical and practical skills in communication through working with other people and you will have the opportunity to do research and take part in a project to demonstrate what you have learnt during the course.
This is a full time 2-year programme which will provide you with a license to practice in childcare settings along with enhancing opportunities for you to progress into higher education. Year 1 will cover the core element which will include the following:
- Supporting Education
- Safeguarding, health and safety
- Child development
- Observation and assessment
- Reflective Practice
- Special Educational Needs and Disability
- Year 2 will include the occupational specialism:
- Early Years Education and Care
This will give opportunities to develop the following:
- The core knowledge and skills relevant to Education and Childcare
- Up-to date knowledge and skills that link to current practice in the sector
- The necessary English, Maths and Digital skills.
- Competence that meets employer expectations
- Opportunities to manage and improve own performance.
You will also be able to develop your understanding of the key principles, concepts, theories and skills that will give you a solid foundation of knowledge to support you during a range of placement experience.

Entry Requirements are 5 GCSEs at grades 4 - 9 including Math's and English.
Progression from this course is to to university to study a related subject, an apprenticeship or into employment.
Our University Centre Grimsby offers progression courses such as: FD Early Childhood Studies and an FD Children, Families and Young People.
Potential employment opportunities can include: Early Years Practitioners, Teaching Assistants and further training to become a Teacher or a Social Worker.
