Havelock Academy Sixth Form aims to be the centre of choice for post-16 education in the Grimsby and Cleethorpes area.

We strive to develop people who are confident and articulate, motivated and ambitious, dedicated to learning and selfimprovement, who respect themselves and who value others.

We offer an academic further education route delivering a combination of GCE Advanced Level courses as well as a number of BTEC National Diploma and Subsidiary Diploma awards. We aim to develop the whole person with a strong emphasis on academic excellence and leadership development. We believe that enhancing a young person’s confidence will greatly impact their future successes and therefore offer an extensive enrichment package.

We pride ourselves on our strong pastoral system which we believe allows every member of the Academy to feel part of a family.

We care about every individual and want all to succeed be that in applying for top universities, apprenticeships or gaining employment.

Plans are well advanced to open the dedicated Sixth Form building in September 2015 which will provide state-of-the-art learning and social spaces for the Sixth Form students. This new building will be the next step-change in the evolution of the Academy.

We look forward to meeting you at one of our open evenings and interview sessions.

Student support

High quality guidance is important to the life of the Academy Sixth Form.

It ensures those in Years 12 and 13 are given the best possible chance to reach their university of choice or pursue their preferred career path. However, we are determined to do better and that is why we are planning to build a new Sixth Form building and equip it with the best facilities, overseen by a first class teaching staff.

We aim high and our students do likewise.

For Year 11s already at Havelock, we offer a familiar place that will have seen them excel in their studies and given unprecedented access to extra-curricular and enrichment opportunities through our sponsor the David Ross Education Trust.

For those new to the academy, we offer a safe, supportive environment where each student is known to staff. Progress is regularly monitored and our young people are encouraged to do their best in small, focused classes. We have a dedicated careers advisor and an enrichment officer who has access to world-class opportunities. There is also a strong emphasis on leadership development to increase confidence.

Students may help young readers or coach sport, for example. Each Sixth Form student is expected to develop a portfolio of experience to help inform decisions about careers and higher education. This portfolio will establish the basis of a CV and personal statement for a UCAS application.
